Porto Alegre é a capital do Rio Grande do Sul. A população estimada é de 1.500.000 habitantes. A cidade foi fundada em 1772 por casais portugueses e acolheu imigrantes de todo o mundo, em particular, alemães, italianos, espanhóis, africanos, poloneses e libaneses. Terra de grandes escritores, intelectuais, artistas e políticos que marcaram a história do país. A cidade é capaz de produzir e sediar eventos de grande porte. Fica localizada a apenas 120 Km da agradável Serra Gaúcha. A cidade ganhou por três vezes o título da ONU de metrópole número um em qualidade de vida no Brasil. Está entre as cidades mais arborizadas do mundo. Tem um trânsito modelo no país. As comidas típicas são o churrasco, o arroz de carreteiro, o feijão mexido, o galeto, o sagu e a ambrosia. Porto Alegre is the capital of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Its estimated population is 1,500,000 inhabitants. The city was founded in 1772 by Portuguese families and it has welcomed immigrants from around the world: in particular, from Germany, Italy, Spain, Africa, Poland and Lebanon. It is the native land of great writers, intellectuals, artists and politicians who have marked Brazil’s history. The city has the capacity to produce and host large-scale events. It is located only 120 km from the beautiful hills of the Serra Gaúcha. On three occasions, the city has won the United Nations title of the best metropolis in Brazil in terms of quality of life. It is among the cities with the greatest number of trees in the world. It has a transit system that is a model for the country. Its typical dishes are barbecue, wagoner’s rice, mixed beans, baked chicken, tapioca desserts and ambrosia dessert.
